Don't count on good radio!, The Auto time is great and I would recommend it if you use the beeper to wake you. My Sister bought it and is returning it because 1. It's not purple like in the picture (it's blue). and 2. Because the radio reception is poor.
Perfect... for awhile, I loved how this clock would automatically reset it's time AND alarms after a power failure. It was also easy to change time zones so you could bring it on vacation with you. After about three years (I think, maybe less,) it just lost power. I had to hit the dresser it was set upon and then it would kick back on and reset it's time. Not very reliable anymore... I've since tossed it.
Avoid this unit, I plugged in the unit and the radio is unusable. In AM mode it buzzes so loud, I can't hear a single station. FM buzzes less loud but still unusable. I tried it at a friend's house and it had the same loud buzz. I called Scott's 800 number and they said they are aware of the problem with their remaining stock and to NOT SEND IT IN to them since they would just send me another buzzing unit.
clock radio, So far we have been highly satisfied. When we plugged the radio in it went to the right time for us in EST and the readout is really good as it can be read from as far away as the next room from where it is positioned so at night it is nice to be able to see the time. We haven't used it much yet for the radio but have quite a few throughout the house so we play whereever we happen to be at the time.
Can't update DayLight Savings schedule., The unit itself is fine. Everything works except my unit is stuck with the daylight savings time schedule from the last century.
For instance, when the rest of the world changes to Daylight Savings time on the second Sunday in March, I have to MANUALLY adjust the time. Then when the first Sunday in April rolls around, the stupid clock jumps forward an hour, and I have to set it back. Sort of annoying. Otherwise, it's a good clock radio.
And of course, The website in the user manual ([...]) doesn't exist.
Good alarm clock, If you are looking for a clock to set 2 different wake up times, this clock does work. Monday-Wednesday-Friday we get up at one time, Tuesday-Thursday is another time. All you have to do is turn on either alarm 1 or alarm 2 before bed. The fact that it adjusts for daylight savings time is an added bonus.
I can't believe it!, This alarm clock does it all, its idiot proof and that's why I LOVE it. You don't have to think at all to use it successfully. its AWESOME. It will keep perfect time even counting leap-years for longer than I'll live. And the sound quality on the FM radio is excellent. I HIGHLY recommend this product.
happy, Purchase was for my son who attends college. He get's up at two different times mon., wed, & fri 8:30-- Tues, Wed 9:15.
Used to be great!, I've owned this clock for over 10 years. At first it was the most wonderful thing ever...its ability to reset itself and its alarms after power outages saved my bacon on multiple occasions. However, it has not been updated to follow the new Daylight Savings Time, so now I manually reset it four times a year (the way to do this is by changing to different time zones, since it will update any other manual time changes). So I'm in the market for a new one, only to find this model is still stuck on the old Daylight Savings Time plan. The other major issue I have is that I live in Chicago, and the antenna is simply no longer strong enough to pick up many local radio stations in such a congested bandwidth area. At least twice a year I lose my station to static entirely for about a month (it's only five miles away!).
Really Great...Until..., I loved this cloack radio for a while. After a year or so, the line segments that make up the time started to burn out one at a time. Now so many of them are off, the time is completely unreadable. The alarms still go off very reliably, but I defy you to set the alarm or read the time with only about half the bars working.
