HH Scott SCR120 E-Z Set TM Clock Radio (Silver Metallic)

Don't count on good radio!, The Auto time is great and I would recommend it if you use the beeper to wake you. My Sister bought it and is returning it because 1. It's not purple like in the picture (it's blue). and 2. Because the radio reception is poor.
Perfect... for awhile, I loved how this clock would automatically reset it's time AND alarms after a power failure. It was also easy to change time zones so you could bring it on vacation with you. After about three years (I think, maybe less,) it just lost power. I had to hit the dresser it was set upon and then it would kick back on and reset it's time. Not very reliable anymore... I've since tossed it.
Avoid this unit, I plugged in the unit and the radio is unusable. In AM mode it buzzes so loud, I can't hear a single station. FM buzzes less loud but still unusable. I tried it at a friend's house and it had the same loud buzz. I called Scott's 800 number and they said they are aware of the problem with their remaining stock and to NOT SEND IT IN to them since they would just send me another buzzing unit.
clock radio, So far we have been highly satisfied. When we plugged the radio in it went to the right time for us in EST and the readout is really good as it can be read from as far away as the next room from where it is positioned so at night it is nice to be able to see the time. We haven't used it much yet for the radio but have quite a few throughout the house so we play whereever we happen to be at the time.
Can't update DayLight Savings schedule., The unit itself is fine. Everything works except my unit is stuck with the daylight savings time schedule from the last century.

For instance, when the rest of the world changes to Daylight Savings time on the second Sunday in March, I have to MANUALLY adjust the time. Then when the first Sunday in April rolls around, the stupid clock jumps forward an hour, and I have to set it back. Sort of annoying. Otherwise, it's a good clock radio.

And of course, The website in the user manual ([...]) doesn't exist.
Good alarm clock, If you are looking for a clock to set 2 different wake up times, this clock does work. Monday-Wednesday-Friday we get up at one time, Tuesday-Thursday is another time. All you have to do is turn on either alarm 1 or alarm 2 before bed. The fact that it adjusts for daylight savings time is an added bonus.
I can't believe it!, This alarm clock does it all, its idiot proof and that's why I LOVE it. You don't have to think at all to use it successfully. its AWESOME. It will keep perfect time even counting leap-years for longer than I'll live. And the sound quality on the FM radio is excellent. I HIGHLY recommend this product.
happy, Purchase was for my son who attends college. He get's up at two different times mon., wed, & fri 8:30-- Tues, Wed 9:15.
Used to be great!, I've owned this clock for over 10 years. At first it was the most wonderful thing ever...its ability to reset itself and its alarms after power outages saved my bacon on multiple occasions. However, it has not been updated to follow the new Daylight Savings Time, so now I manually reset it four times a year (the way to do this is by changing to different time zones, since it will update any other manual time changes). So I'm in the market for a new one, only to find this model is still stuck on the old Daylight Savings Time plan. The other major issue I have is that I live in Chicago, and the antenna is simply no longer strong enough to pick up many local radio stations in such a congested bandwidth area. At least twice a year I lose my station to static entirely for about a month (it's only five miles away!).
Really Great...Until..., I loved this cloack radio for a while. After a year or so, the line segments that make up the time started to burn out one at a time. Now so many of them are off, the time is completely unreadable. The alarms still go off very reliably, but I defy you to set the alarm or read the time with only about half the bars working.

    Westclox Odyssey

Useless clock, From day one the clock went ahead about 3 hours everyday. Even if you correct the time every night before sleeping, by the time it wakes you up in the morning it is close to one hour earlier than the actual time you wanted to get up. Used only for two days only. Unfortunately, I had discarded all the packaging when I received the clock and cannot return it.
dubber, (What's this?) This clock turned out to be defective. It kept time good for three days. The first time I used the alarm, it worked. After that the time gained and lost as much as thirty minutes in an hour. I did receive a full refund from Amazon when requested.
Godd PurchaseDecision, While this is only a non radio alarm clock it serves it's purpose. The dual alarm feature works well and the setting controls are very simple to use. The only downside is that the volume is loud and there is no way to turn it lower so you may wake up in a startle. Overall very nice for the price.
Simple and large Red LED clock serves it's purpose, (What's this?) I bought this clock after extensive search for a SIMPLE and LARGE LED clock without radios. We wanted a clock that can be seen from far away at most angles. I was a little worried based on poor reviews here. So far, I am very happy with the pruchase. It has been running for a month and the time is still accurate to the seconds when compared to the time on my laptop computer! The black color and sleek style is unique which set it apart from most of the other radio clocks. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. All in all, it is a very solid alarm clock.
not what i thought, i have been looking for a clock with a dual alarm. the buttons were too small to find in the morning, and , for me, the displa was way too bright. it has a dimmer, but it did not do too much dim the numbers. i returned the item.

  • HI/LO display dimmer button
  • Alarm with snooze
  • 1.8" Red LED display
  • Sleek patent pending case design
  • 9V Battery Back-Up

  • HI/LO display dimmer button.Alarm with snooze.1.8" Red LED display.Sleek patent pending case design.9V Battery Back-Up. The full featured Westclox Odyssey includes features that make your room more simple and your life less stressful. Dual alarms keeps living spaces simple by eliminating the need for multiple alarm clocks while the large display size permits easy viewing from point in the room. No need to stress about wake-up time because the 90db loud alarm clock will wake you up but also has a dimmer sound setting for those more sensitive to morning sounds. You will never need to worry about setting the time after a power outage by taking advantage of its battery backup feature which maintains the time internally and displays it correctly once the power has returned.

Homedics Envirascape Sound Spa Alarm Clock Radio

Gets Job Done but Could Use Improvement, I gave 3 stars for "fair," which may be on the generous side. The machine sounds definitely provide "white noise" to drown out background sounds, which was the purpose for purchasing it. However, when the machine is plugged in, it mysteriously turns itself on, even when no one is in the room. When it turns on by itself, it switches off whatever sound we'd set it on to the harshest, least-soothing sound on the machine. When we used batteries, rather than plugging it in, it was even worse: it would run for a certain amount of time and then blare out what sounded like a cacaphonous guitar riff before falling silent. When you're using it to lull your infant to sleep you can imagine how well that went over. Also, none of the sounds are particularly soothing - very tinny. We were unpleasantly surprised because I'd received one as a gift years earlier that works wonderfully and has never faltered. We expected the same performance from this one. Maybe the higher-priced models work better. The machine gets the job done but could definitely use improvements.
Don't buy it here, they have them at Bed, Bath & Beyond, The clock arrived with the rubber feet falling off all over, and a rusted battery, and the hour button to change the time did not work. I returned it for a replacement and still have not received another one. I am very disappointed with this whole thing. In addition, the cost of the clock was $19.99 and the shipping was $20.00. I specified that they send it the cheapest way possible and i guess this was their solution. This company has serious problems.
I've had 2!, I am a chronic pain sufferer with chronic daily headaches and migraines and sleep very poorly. To sleep, I run two fans and a humidifer. If my new husband (who is the softest snorer I've been around) does snore, I then use a sound machine. With my ex, The Train, I had to use this particular model with batteries and while balancing ice on my head for my headaches I had to balance this sound machine on my ear and neck to drown him out!!!

I lost it on some trip somewhere. I think my first one finally wore out from overuse and I now use inferior much more expensive ones. I am going to buy a 3rd one for travelling use if nothing else....
Poor product quality, Batteries corroded within the unit upon arrival, clock doesn't work. What a disappointment.
    Wish I had a better experience. . .,   | PermalinkComment Comment

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: 1.0 out of 5 stars Broke within minutes!, (What's this?) I bought this for our guest room, primarily for the sound spa. My daughter visited, and set up the machine. She got a soothing sound for about 30 minutes, but then it quit.

Lighting On Clock Makes It Impossible To See At Night, My wife purchased this 3 or 4 years ago. She liked the relaxation sounds on it. However, there was, and is, no way to be able to read the clock, in a dark room. The clock has very poor edge lighting, thus the clock can't be read in the dark easily, or at all. I would rate this radio a 1.

  • Easy to read - large-digit LCD display is illuminated by a glowing backlight
  • Selectable timer modes - choose to play sound for 15, 30, 60 minutes or continuously
  • Wake to AM/FM radio, alarm or soothing sound
  • Six natural sounds - choose from Wind, Brook, Night, Rain, Falls or Ocean
  • Powered by AC adapter (included) or 3 AA alkaline batteries (batteries not included)

Fall gently asleep or awaken to one of six programmed sounds with this lightweight, compact AM/FM clock radio. The natural, soothing sound options are wind, ocean surf, waterfall, night sounds, brook, and steady rainfall. In addition to the natural sounds, you can wake up to a buzzer or the radio itself. Powered by three AAA batteries (included) or plugged into a wall socket with an AC adapter (also included), the radio provides powerful sound either lying flat or propped up on its removable stand. There's a big snooze button on the front, an LCD clock, and a headphone jack. The radio measures 6 by 7 inches and carries a two-year warranty against defects.

    SC372 - DIGI ALRM CLCK/FM/AM RADIO

Alarm Clock, (What's this?) I wanted a cheap alarm clock that I could connect my Sansa Fuze to. And this one was perfect. The alarm clock radio is very static stricken no matter what station its on. But it don't really matter to me because I use my Sansa Fuze radio. The only problem I have with it is that I thought if I use the 9v battery than I wouldn't need to plug it up to the wall. I was wrong. It only saves the time and alarm settings on the clock when you unplug it. But overall its still a good alarm clock.
Clock/Radio, (What's this?) The radio worked ok, although the sound quality was very poor when u connect your mp3 or IPod.
If you just need a simple clock radio it will work just fine.

Elgin 2-Inch LCD Multifunction Alarm with Smartlite

Had high hopes, (What's this?) I was hoping to have a clock so the time could be read from a distance of 15 feet. The picture shows a green background & that works if the room is dark. Without the green background, the clock is hard read even from a couple of feet away. There is no way to keep the the green light on all the time - the sensor to turn the green background on works only when the room darkens.

  • Green backlight on demand
  • Smartlite auto sensor automatically illuminates display in a dark environment

Very happy with this radio, I originally bought a re-furb through Amazon from Best Electronics PlusW because it was cheaper and I figured that if something had been broken it was fixed, right? Wrong. Speaker did not work when it was in radio mode. Sent it back and went to Best Buy and bought a new one. This radio is a great buy for the $69 I paid for it.

    New-JENSEN JCR-275 AM/FM DUAL ALARM CLOCK RADIO WITH WAVESENSOR - JENJCR275

Good alarm clock, (What's this?) After my old alarm clock became unreliable I embarked on my quest to find a replacement. I figured I would find one with some new features that my old alarm clock was lacking. This would be the ability to not go off on weekends without having to constantly remember to set or unset it based on the day. After coming across this Jensen, I determined that this had the functionality I was looking for. For the most part, it is pretty much as advertised. The ability to wave your hand over the top is kind of a novelty. Doing so also cycles through the temp and displays the two currently set alarms. It is also very easy to read. I find the green night light on the bottom of it weird and reminiscent of being on a borg ship, so, I have simply turned it off. Two things I am not fond of are the feel of pressing the buttons on the front and cancelling the alarm. The buttons seem to have a rather cheap feel to them, and also require more force than I would like.
good for the price, (What's this?) i buy an alarm clock every year and half. And rather then waste tons of money on what will die out, this was good for the price and gives all that it promises. I love that it tells the temperature and plays my mp3 player. the green light is an added bonus and its small enough if you don't have a large space to put this.

  • High/low dimmer control; aux input jack for connecting IPOD(R), MP3 or other digital audio players

Sony ICF-CD814 AM/FM Stereo Clock Radio with CD Player, White

Excellent product for the price, (What's this?) I did a fair amount of research both online and in local stores to find the best CD alarm clock for my money. Most of them seemed either way to expensive or cheaply made. As soon as I saw and tested out this unit, however, I knew it was a winner. Now after having purchased it and used it for a week or two I'm really very satisfied. This unit is built to last and has surprisingly "big" sound for its size. The CD player doesn't hum or whir loudly, the display is nice and big and the features are pretty easy to use.

A couple features that I don't think you'll find out about by reading the spec. chart are as follows:

-You can set both of the alarms to CD (which many other models boasting dual alarms won't allow) and even to the same track. The second alarm just overrides the first if it's still going.

-Buzzer alarm doesn't get progessively louder but does get progressively faster, which is nice.

-Snooze button works in 10 min. increments.

-CD lid is not spring loaded and must be opened and closed manually (which was actually one reason I liked this model, seeing as how nearly all of the other models seemed to have flimsy and often very slow opening mechanisms).

-Display can be seen fairly well even from an angle (which was a problem found with various other models).
For the $35 it's OK, I bought this during the mad Xmas rush to keep @ my desk @work. It's small enough to fit in the corner of my work cubicle.
Actually, my rating would be a 3.5
Cons: The volume control is inconveniently located in the right hand rear corner. if you keep it at the same volume,it's ok, you don't have to hassle with reaching to the back.
Pros: a plus, the inline MP3 player connection, conveniently located in front. the large numbers for the clock; the CD loading is conveniently located at the top of the unit; the inline is very easy to use and connects instantly at the touch of a button. the top is black, so smudges, ink from your pen or oil from your fingers don't show up as easily as on white.
For the $35 I paid at the register, it's OK for the money.
A Winner From Sony!, I've Been Using This Model Sony CD/Clock Radio For Over A Year And Am Very Impressed With It's Features And Sound Quality! It's Big Easy On The Eyes Dial Is Readable Well Even At A Distance. If You Have An MP3 Player You'll Really Appreciate Its Audio Input Jack On The Front. The Tone quality from Its Two Side Firing Speakers Is Typical Sony-Rich And Full!In Sum I'm Very Impressed.
It's just OK, I'm somewhat disappointed with Sony on this one.

CONS: The volume dial is inconveniently located on the right side, low towards the back. The AM/FM analog tuner is a dial with numbers on it. No battery back up. My unit has a slight hum at all times -- don't know if that's typical, or if mine is just defective. Sound is just OK, not great. Not as compact as description would lead you to believe (still pretty large footprint).

PROS: The clock display is large, with 3 brightness settings.

  • Snooze button and sleep timer; audio line-in jack
  • Dual alarm function wakes couples at 2 different times
  • Entry-level clock radio with analog AM/FM tuner and CD player
  • Adjustable brightness control; 1-year warranty
  • Alarm can sound to CD, radio, or buzzer; 1.4-inch LED display

    NS-CLVR01 Clock Radio w/Voice Commands

Mediocre radio, (What's this?) I liked this clock radio for the week I had it before it stopped working. The sound was good, and I loved having 5 radio presets. On the con side, the display was too bright, and the voice control was quirky.
Clock reveiw, (What's this?) I've bought 2 of these and have carried them with me back to India.

We have used only one unit so far and the same keeps hanging every alternate day.

the only way to make it work again is by removing power and battery both and resetting it.

    Very bad Buy.
POS, (What's this?) This thing was a total POS. It just resets its self to a random time after 12 hours of use. Also none of the buttons work after those 12 hours so you can't change it back. What a failboat of an alarm clock.
At a low price point is a pretty good device if you know what to expect, It's worth buying only at the low price it's recenly been offered at.

Allows MP3 line in - but volume is too quiet and clips if you turn your mp3 player up too much

2 full range speakers are good - but not stereo and don't have enough high range. Or I am going deaf.

Voice command is bad and gets in the way but can be turned off - though if you press SNOOZE for too short a time, you get a loud voice saying WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU.

FM tuner is better than on my better brand clock radios and is separate from power wire.

AC adapter is plug in, like on most computer equipment these days, not like on most clock radios. It thus runs on 9v dc.

I find the various brightnesses of the LCD screen all wrong - very bright, too bright, off. Give me LED again like in the 1980s.

Power button requires a second or two to respond - it's trying hard to be an input selector too. Case is solid though buttons are not responsive.

In short it's a picture of contemporary design and manufacturing of a store brand product made in China or east Asia. Give companies like Insignia a few more years and they'll probably have a very good product. For now, Sony and the name brands are learning how to manufacturer cheaply but design for user experience better.

Buy if for what lunch at work costs or less...
Always would freeze up, Purchased this item in December 2010; every few days it would freeze up and have to be unplugged and plugged in again. This happened repeatedly, took back to Best Buy for store credit. I wouldn't mess with it.
Terrible product, Didn't work from the beginning, it would freeze up when you turned on the radio and you have to unplug and replug in the clock to get it working again. Then after about a month the unit totally died, wouldn't turn on at all.
