La Crosse Technologies Wt3122a Wall Clock Analog-quartz-atomic Features Daylight Saving Atomic Clock

Good Decent Clock, Mostly plastic, Chinese made for US company, small finish blemish on wood(?)rim but insignificant from afar, nevertheless seems to work good. Keeps good time so far(1 week). Uses 1 AA battery not supplied. Just remove from box(need a Phillips screwdriver to remove from box), there are 2 switches on the back, 1 for US time zones, 1 for if you use daylight savings. Insert battery and clock will do a 12 hour sweep to initialize at 12 O'clock. Then you gotta wait. When setting up clock don't panic if it doesn't sync up right away, mine took overnight to auto adjust (because the sync signal broadcasts at night or something). There is a manual set for those who have to set right away( I just wanted to see if it would adjust itself) Used my prime account for overnight 4$ shipping which was fulfilled.
Atomic Clock, (What's this?) This clock keeps perfect time, runs quietly and looks great in our kitchen & is easy to see and read. I only wish there were more color choices. The instructions fairly clear about how to set it to your time zone but will agree with some other reviewers that it didn't work perfectly at first. After a couple attempts and rereading the instructions I just took it to a west facing window and within 10 min it reset the time correctly.

Boston Acoustics SOLO2B Solo II AM/FM Radio with Clock (Gloss Black) Serves me right

Excellent Table Radio, (What's this?) I bought one of these from Target a while back, and when I went back to buy a second one, they were gone. So, I found one here at Amazon at a reduced price. It was actually a used or "Previously Owned" item, but at a fairly reduced price.
Annoying controls and defect clock radio - don't buy refurbished, I purchased Boston Acoustics Horizon Solo (a predecessor of the SOLO 2B II) a year ago directly from Boston Acoustics. The radio works fine and sounds great. Unfortunately, the controls are irritatingly arranged, with the ON button (one of the functions of the larger central knob) being the most irritating. One needs to push it very hard to turn it on or off. However, the most worthless part of this radio is that the alarm clock is very idiosyncratic. It turns on at the correct time, but one day it stays on for an hour (as it is supposed to), another day it may stay on for a time ranging between a few seconds up to an hour and then the sound goes off, but the alarm light stays on and flashes indicating it is still in alarm mode, and another day the alarm turns the radio on, but no sounds comes out, even though the alarm indicator flashes showing that the alarm is in alarm mode. It may come on later within the hour period. The alarm function is plain unreliable! Tech support says one should unplug it for 48 hours to reset the memory (I believe that it has a capacitor that acts as a backup battery). I did it for a week, and the memory did NOT reset and the clock radio continues to behave very erratically and unreliably. It being a refurbished unit, Boston Acoustics does not want it back and are not willing to help, except to give you the telephone number of a company that repairs their equipment for them. Also, when you call and ask for tech support, it seems that one is connected to the sales department and all they tell you to do is to unplug the radio in order to reset the memory. If you are looking for a CLOCK radio, beware and consider trying something else.
Terrible User Interface, It appears that the design team never used a clock radio. The sleep function is nested between the clock and alarm settings and it's very easy to corrupt everything. Don't buy this if you want to hit a button and fall asleep to music.

Two stars since the radio sounds good.

Would I purchase again? No. Wait for the next edition with interlocks on the time settings.
Tops for AM talk radio and Classical - amazing sound without too much bass like other 1 speaker radios, I have now been using the Boston Acoustics Solo2 radio for over a year, so I figured I am in a good position to write a clear review.

I wanted a 1 box radio to use in my office that had stellar AM reception and sound. Given the huge number of inexpensive AM/FM radios you can buy today, why spent >$100 for a simple device that doesn't even have an iPod dock?

First, the quality is literally unrivaled in the world of cheap to mid-range radios. It tunes in AM radio stations without any hum or buzz, often far clearer than when I stream them over the Internet. For the quality of the tuner alone, it is well worth the price. However, the radio goes further in that the sound coming from it literally fills the room. When you evaluate one-box radios at the big-box stores, often they have very high bass. Marketers have found that consumers associate high bass response with quality. In fact, some of the competitors make the bass so high that the radio sounds good in a mega-store, but is annoying when you get it home. When you listen to human voice with the bass too high, it is just disturbing. News talk radio needs good audio balance.

Bringing me to the Boston radio, the radio not only features strong bass and treble response, but they are adjustable! So you can make the sound perfect.

The design is appealing, with a simple front panel and some multi-purpose knobs.
Clock light too bright., (What's this?) Even with the brightness at 0 the clock lights up my entire bedroom. Other then that this clock radio is very high quality and sounds great. It picks up all stations very clear. I just could not take the blue light from the clock shinning in my face all night. Had to return the unit.
settings horrible, radio turns on every day even tho alarm is not set, (What's this?) I received this radio last week to replace a much older Boston Acoustics clock radio for my bedroom I liked that radio and the settings were very easy to use but there's no bass/treble setting and the bass is so deep I had trouble listening to speech from my bed. This radio works well in that sense and the sound is great but I find the settings to be extremely annoying. As one person said, changing stations from FM to AM in the middle of the night is a real pain as you need to move brackets to whatever setting you wish, and at night they're very hard to see.. Also the ambient light from the clock, even when turned down to 0 is too bright because it adjusts to a darkened room and becomes brighter as well as reflecting on nearby objects. I have been putting a business card over it which means I need to remove it to see the time. For people who haven't sleep issues it probably doesn't present a problem, for those of us sensitive to the light it does. I read recently that blue LED light, which this emits, creates sleep problems in general. It's a good radio for use during the day but I'm sorry I didn't take some of the other writer's concerns more seriously for my needs.

This is an addition to my review. I'm very sorry I bought this radio considering it's cost. I mostly use it at night when i'm in bed and if i wake and have difficulty falling asleep, it is an incredible nuisance to use as you have to turn a light on to see where AM and FM are to bracket them. On top of this the alarms, which I've never used and are definitely off, turn themselves on every day and have from day one.
Good sound, can't keep correct time, This is an update to my review from Nov 2008 which was a positive one.

Turns out that after the original problem with the firmware (that required repair under warranty), the clock has started losing time again (over an hour a day). This time, the Canadian service center tells me it's a hardware problem and repair would cost over over 100$, which even they say is not worth it. Tried complaining to Boston Acoustics directly but the National Service Manager for Canada responded, basically saying "tough luck". Really upset at having paid 150$ (the price here in Canada) for what I thought was a high end alarm clock and having it fail twice in 3 years and now pretty much useless as an alarm clock. You may want to consider the Logitech Squeezebox Radio, which requires wired or wireless network access but offers access to quality Internet radio.
Rich sound, great radio, (What's this?) I've owned this unit now for 3 months and primarily use it as a clock radio. The radio is very good pulling in stations most other radios simply can't receive. The sound is rich and well balanced. I also appreciate not having to put batteries in it for time backup - the built in capacitor has ensured everything stayed set correctly through a couple of power outages.
The alarms work well and I love the way the sound increases gradually to the set level. I also like the way the clock automatically dims when it's lights out. Also, when the radio starts by the alarm the time remains visible, important when you are trying to get the door on time. Note, however, when you turn the radio on you cannot see the time - just the currently tuned channel.
The design is very sleek and I like the fact that it can be rotated. I do wish there were some preset channel buttons though; controls are perhaps a little too simple. Also, at this price it would have been nice to include an hd radio tuner and a remote.
All-in-all, pretty happy with the radio and can recommend it.
Serves me right, Once upon a time I had a cheap Sony clock radio that gave me good service for years. Then I decided to get fancy and buy the Horizon Solo, the predecessor of the Solo II.

There's a reason for that II. My Solo worked perfectly for me, with nice acoustics----until it died last week, exactly two years from the day I bought it. The radio lit up, but no sound emerged. The company said to unplug the radio for 48 hours to reset its insides, but that accomplished nothing.

Good luck with Boston Acoustics tabletop radios. I'm on the lookout for a nice cheap Sony......

    M.
sounds good as long as you use high bitrate audio, controls are okay, not well thought of. sometimes it takes a bit of time to turn it on/off, and controls are touchy esp on the left one. a little touch will change it from aux to fm which is annoying.

as for sound quality, it is great tho not exactly crystal clear. instrument separation/stereo widening or other sort of digital processing is missing, i wish it had one granted that this equipment is mono. i use my smartphone most of the time with this and i noticed i needed a high bitrate of coding to make it sound nice..

on the plus side, sound is room filling and has excellent bass for its size.

  • High performance 3.5" full-range speaker with BassTrac audio processing for rich, clean bass at all listening levels

The Solo II is a stylish and compact AM/FM radio that features Boston's innovative 360-degree snooze bar, a touch-sensitive outer rim that you can't miss, even when you're half asleep. It also offers you plenty of placement flexibility thanks to its rotating clock face. Use it vertically on a desk or horizontally on a kitchen counter or bedside table. The choice is yours. Best of all, wherever and however you use it, the sound from this little radio is simply amazing. .caption ul.indent table.callout td.

Sangean RCR-1 Advanced Atomic Clock Radio - Silver PERFECT CLOCK RADIO

Horrible User Interface, (What's this?) This is the most horrid clock radio ever. The user interface is terrible, and the physical unit is huge. The time receiver antenna is a monster and highly ugly. I couldn't figure out how to set the alarm or change the radio station. This truly has the most horrid manual and the buttons were clearly not designed with the user in mind.

This item got sent back and a $15 Emerson clock radio is vastly superior. The company clearly does not elicit feedback from real humans during the design process. I can't imagine anyone actually using this device outside of their engineering labs.
PERFECT CLOCK RADIO, I really like my Sangean Alarm clock radio

    - Outstanding AM reception. It will pull in weak signals like few expensive radios can. Same for FM reception.
    - Two programmable alarms.
    - Each alarm can be set to use radio, radio/beeper (not a buzzer), or just beeper.
    - Each alarm can be set for different days of the week. I find I rarely need to touch the alarm settings after it's programmed.
    - The beeper alarm doesn't jolt you out of bed. It starts with a light beep and increases in volume (which is also adjustable).
    - The display light, which has two settings. One for sleeping and one for clear viewing of the display (also adjustable).
    - Two clock displays: Digital and Analog. I find it easier to read the analog clock during the night.
    - Accurate time without adjustment. The one thing you don't want to need to adjust is self-adjusting.

I love this clock radio and recommend it highly.
Great idea; badly executed, (What's this?) I love the features of this unit, what with the auto-setting feature and the analog clock face and all the different alarm settings and so on. I even like the "Humane Waking System."

But after only a few days, the pretty blue light you see in the pictures went out and wouldn't come back on, so that in the dark we had to shine a light at the clock to see what time it was. That was aggravating but not fatal.
not completely reliable, My husband bought me this clock radio as a gift. Not long after using it, the blue backlight stopped working. We fiddled with the brightness controls, but nothing helped. It just stopped. I resigned myself to not being able to see the time in the middle of the night. Then recently, the time itself stopped working correctly. The analog time and the digital time showed two different times, neither correct! The digital clock began running way behind time (not good if you want an alarm to go off on time). I was just about to junk it and order a new clock radio when I went in to take a look at it one more time, and both clocks are now reset to the correct time and seem to be functioning... after more than a week of not working right! Go figure. If you buy this, check it frequently to make sure it is still functioning correctly. Maybe I just got a lemon.
Nice Clock, (What's this?) I purchased this clock long time ago....Great product, I saw it for the first time in a hotel in Scottsdale....Like the fact than you can have the radio ON without losing the view of the time, like many other digital clocks out there...
incompetence personified, (What's this?) This company was totally incompetent..sending me a different radio completely.
Pretty good clock, (What's this?) A really nice feature is that the brightness of the display can be adjusted to multiple settings, unlike the one or two on most clock radios. Sound is good, and we like the two types of display. One problem - the digital display is quite hard to read at a distance. Also, the time synchronization attachment works great but is kind of clunky.
Not so great, I bought this item a couple of years ago, and it seemed great according to the description. But it is almost maddeningly complicated to set up for the alarm functions. In fact, after I finally got it to wake me up I quit trying to change radio stations or volume levels. Also, it has a real hard time synchronizing with the time signal from Colorado. I have a small wristwatch very near this clock and the wristwatch nas no problem getting the correct time, but this thing, with its big antenna seems to have a terrible problem recieving the time signal.
Great radio!, I purchased this radio because the clock radio I was using had awful sound/reception. The sound that comes out of this radio is excellent and the tone is adjustable. I read several of the reviews that said the instruction book was hard to read - I thought it was pretty clear and the clock is pretty intuitive. I didn't have any problems getting the atomic clock to set - it did itself within a few minutes of being plugged in. Its easier than alot of the clock radios I've encountered in hotel rooms!

The clock is also very attractive - it has a modern, hi-tech look to it and the silver and blue combination is great.
Wonderful Features, Has alot of nice features and keeps good time using the atomic clock. Onlyobjection would be that i have to get out the manual every time i want to reprogram.

This sleek, self-setting atomic clock radio offers a blend of style, features, and performance that will perfectly accent any home or office. The clock automatically adjusts itself to radio signals received from the U.S. atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado, so you're always ensured accurate and reliable time. It even makes adjustments for Daylight Savings time.

A easy-to-read LCD shows time, date, and day of the week, as well as sleep times, wake times, and--of course--nap times. The RCR-1 also boasts an inset, German-made analog clock for easier reading, which synchronizes itself with the LCD's displayed time.

Living with someone else who needs an alarm? You can set and use the RCR-1's two alarms completely independently, with selectable days and the option to wake to a radio or buzzer. The alarm volume starts softly then gradually increases. The radio's ATS system locates stations and automatically establishes memory presets. Sony ICF-C7IP Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone with Hidden Sliding Dock Tray

Not durable, I have to say that I love the look of this alarm and that it charges my iPhone. The buttons were a bit of a pain when I was fumbling around in the dark to change the alarm time. It also did not go off the first time I used the ipod alarm setting (although the alarm was activated, it just didn't play my ipod music). I still loved the look and set it to the radio. All of that said, within 1 week of having it, my cat knocked it off the table and the sliding iphone tray broke off making it a simple fm radio clock. While it's my fault that it fell, I would think that it should survive a 2 foot drop. I re-ordered a different brand.
Good product, (What's this?) I'm a heavy sleeper. I use this alarm along with my phone's alarm clock.
Does not work with iPhone 4, (What's this?) Perhaps I should have read the review closer, but based on everything it said, I thought this product would work for me. But it does not - while it charges my iPhone when it's plugged in, I cannot actually play music through the unit (or through the phone).
More alarm settings than I needed but a great clock/radio, After my analog Sony "dream machine" died, I decided to replace it with a clock radio that has a digital tuner as I was tired of fiddling around in the dark to find my fav radio stations that my analog tuner would often fail to find.

The Sony ICF-C7IP has been amazing, all my preset stations play crystal clear. The ipod dock is a bonus, the speakers even give more bass than expected; the remote works really well with simplicity of my Ipod touch's menu and there's the irony, a Sony machine playing surrogate to the Apple product that knocked them off their perch as leaders in consumer electronics. I still haven't mastered all the settings and modes, again - Sony still hasn't gotten to Apple's level in terms of simplicity in design. Worth the money, makes a great gift.
Not only does it wake you up, it keeps you up, (What's this?) I'm not sure why Sony thinks that because you need an alarm clock they must provide the added "benefit" of a night light, but they deliver on this product. Everything seems to be great about it except for the way too bright clock that illuminates the whole room (and this is on the lowest brightness setting).
Doesn't reliably perform it's main function, This clock is much too bright, even on the lowest setting. It lights my room up so much that I have to keep it covered at night (there is no off switch for the backlight). I could live with that, but the clock's major downfall is that the iPod connection is unreliable. Every night, I would plug in my iPod, and check to be sure it was charging. By morning on some days, it would somehow have come just disconnected enough that the sounds from the iPod wouldn't play and therefore I wouldn't be woken up. After it happened multiple times, I decided this clock just wasn't worth it.
doesnt fit, (What's this?) We had to return the ihome because it did not fit my childrens ipod touch 4th gen. It was not stated on the descrtion when we bought it..
Nice little clock radio!, (What's this?) Bought this clock radio with the iPod player and charger because I was in a hotel that had it in the room. REALLY enjoyed being able to listen to my own music and charge both my iPod and iPhone on it...other items can also be used as there is an external connector...Kind of fun design, clock is nice with different light settings and also changes from Daylight & Standard time automatically...or you can turn that function off. This hotel is one used by my company and many of us have purchased this clock...
Beware of time creep, I agree with other reviewers that the clock face is very bright. However the reason I have stopped using this clock is that after 2 years the clock is now 11 minutes fast. There is no way to reset the time. I've unplugged the unit hoping it would reset correctly but always comes back to the same incorrect time.
Specifications isue, I like to know if it works with iPhone 4 because it said up to iPhone 3G .

    AUDIOVOX 44319751512 CD Clock Radio

Don't buy this!!!, I bought this so I could wake up to some mellow music instead of a jarring beep. I should also add that I get up early, usually in the dark, before my wife. Yes, it's cheap, so my expectations weren't high, but it failed to live up to even those. I have several beefs with this poorly designed product:

    1. It will only play the first track on the CD to wake you up.

    2. It's impossible to tell which button is which by feel in the dark. This is especially important given problem number 3.

    3. The alarm logic is a comlete disaster. If you push the snooze button after the alarm (CD in my case) starts, pushing any other button while in snooze mode will switch the alarm sound to a very loud annoying beep - exactly the thing I was trying to avoid with a CD alarm clock. My wife has about killed me on several occasions because of this. Once this has happened, there's no way to stop it except to unplug the clock (which I did this morning, hoping to save my marriage) and remove the backup battery (which I forgot about - divorce court here I come).

Sony ICF-C112 FM/AM Clock Radio with Full Power Back-up (Black)

Looks Good, Sound quality okay too, BUT, (What's this?) The numbers are way to bright, and the alarm "BUZZER" does not have a VOlUme ConTroL. Otherwise, very solid built, nice design, but it is hard to memorize where the differnt function dials and buttons are.
$50 is overpriced, I was given the Sony ICF-112 clock radio. I thought the BEEP-BEEP alarm was too quiet to wake me. I'm donating it since setting the time is such a hastle. I went online to get a MSRP price for it... $50.00! Please! It has one speaker, only one alarm setting, no volume control on the buzzer and is not all that compact! Outside of Amazon, I found this alarm for $15.00 - I am still trying to figure why anyone would be happy with this alarm clock for $49.95.
good business, The Sony ICF-C112 FM/AM radio with back up power has completely satisfied my desire to buy a clock radio at a reasonable price with all the options that I wanted. The purchase of this clock radio was made fast and easy. I am comletely satisfied with all aspects.
Excellent Easy-To-Use Clock Radio, I had this clock radio (in white) for close to 8 years and I was so happy with it that when the snooze button finally went I automatically went out and purchased the same model. You won't find an easier to use clock radio anywhere. The compact size is excellent for placing on a bed side table.
basic, (What's this?) I purchased this clock for my sons room. It has everything he needs-the time and an alarm/radio. The numbers are nice and big, but not so bright that it keeps you up at night.
Four stars, (What's this?) Because this thing still does not keep the right time if the power is off anywhere from 45 minutes or longer. What the point of putting a battery in there if the clock still doesn't keep the right time?! I just can't believe this clock still does this. Hadn't Sony corrected this problem since the last model before this? The ICF-C111 model had the same problem of not keeping the right time if the power is off for too long.
Not bad for the price, but loud, (What's this?)
Reliable and easy, (What's this?) I like this alarm clock. Its basic and the price reflects that.
Great Radio - Great Sound Quality, (What's this?) This is a great clock radio. It has really great reception on both the AM and FM dials. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the radio reception.

It has a sleep timer that will automatically shut the radio off after one hour. You only have to press the large round "sleep" button on top of the radio and fall asleep to your favorite radio station. Turn the radio off first and then press the sleep button to set the sleep timer.

The time is easy to read from acroos the room without getting out of bed or reaching for your glasses. The only reason I don't give this radio 5 stars is because it only has one speaker.

Cue Acoustics Cue Radio Model R1 - Black

This things is awesome!, I got the Cue Acoustics r1 as a gift and was blown away as soon as I plugged it in. It has a huge sound for such a small unit. With the volume only at half, it fills up my entire apartment. It's also a very dynamic sound: highs are crisp and well defined and lows are rich and full. It's a very "present", live sound.
Cue Accoustics Radio has big sound and features, Not your high-school clock radio.
This tabletop "clock radio" is a must-have for NPR junkies with small apartments! I listen to the radio all the time, and my stereo has good speakers but I can only set up two sets, which covers half the 600-square-foot apartment. I like to have NPR available in all rooms, so I typically use a clock radio as my alarm clock. After years of using a crappy-sounding old-school clock radio, I couldn't resist splurging on the Cue Aucoustics model r1 radio ("the Cue Radio"). It's a gorgeous, sleek little thing with whopping sound. It's small enough to fit on my tiny nightstand and looks nice enough to even be in the living room. I find myself listening to it even when I'm in other rooms, actually, because the sound is good enough and loud enough that if I'm in the middle of something I forget to switch to my real stereo. I used to hate the red glaring numbers showing the time on my old radio; the Cue has a soothing blue display that you can set to dim at night (one of my favorite features). The reception is better than any other radio I've used--I can get a bunch of stations I've never received well, and the signal status bar that comes up automatically while you're tuning is a nice confirmation of how well the station is
coming in. Setup is easy (the instruction booklet looks nice and was laid out such that I actually read it)--I could give this to my parents, for instance, and they would be able to readily suss out all the features. Best yet, it doubles as an iPod dock and also can be used as a receiver for my other mp3 players or my Pandora playlists
(the Cue speakers are way better than my laptop's), and its small size makes it easy to flip around, plug in an auxiliary cable, and enjoy the great sound--which you can control with the tiny remote that comes with it.
Over Priced, (What's this?) Sound quality is fair. Biggest disappointment is no battery backup. Overall, way too much money for what you get.
great sound, well made, (What's this?) This table radio is beautiful, has a really nice FM tuner, excellent sound. Its very well made. I really like that the clock light can not only dimmed at night, but turned off, since I use it next to my bed. The one downside is that setting the alarm is a few menu levels down. They should really optimize that on the next rev of the software.

It integrates gracefully with your iPod or iPhone, with all menus available on either the iPod/iPhone display or the r1's display. You can also choose to have the display dim in a dark room, or turn off completely
  • 115dB SPL for extra loudness

There are many radios with iPod docks. Cue Acoustics has managed to design one that delivers superior sound and loudness. The Cue R1 is a clock radio that lets you choose wake up to iPod, iPhone, or AM/FM radio, or buzzer. Sure, the R1 has a great design too. The real value is the best possible sound performance. This radio is also designed and assembled in the USA. R1 offers intuitive and simple use with Simple User Controls. With just 3 knobs you can control every function of the Model r1. The Navigation dial (the larger one in the middle) allows you to scroll through menus, and push to select an item. The Mode knob is used to choose a sound source or enter the Setup mode to set various preferences. The Volume knob adjusts output level, and turns the r1 on or off when pressed. In iPod Mode, touch controls illuminate around the Navigation dial which allow for easy music navigation on your iPod or iPhone. The Model r1's contemporary, sophisticated design complements any decor and its compact size allows it to fit easily on almost any table, shelf, or desk. By adding the optional Cue Speaker Model s1, the r1 is transformed into a true stereo system. Since the s1 is a separate unit, you can set them apart and allow for the left and right channels to act independently. This provides a deep, immersive sound that is not possible with two speakers placed close together in a single unit. You achieve a much wider field of sonic dispersion in your room or home. The dock on the Model r1 charges and plays most generations of iPod and iPhone. It is fully integrated into the design of the r1 not a separate unit or an add-on like some other brands offer. When an iPod or iPhone is docked and the r1 is in iPod mode, four iPod-like touch controls illuminate around the Navigation dial: Menu, Fast Forward/Next, Play/Pause, and Rewind/Previous. You can choose to have the iPod menus, now-playing info etc.
