Cue Acoustics Cue Radio Model R1 - Black

This things is awesome!, I got the Cue Acoustics r1 as a gift and was blown away as soon as I plugged it in. It has a huge sound for such a small unit. With the volume only at half, it fills up my entire apartment. It's also a very dynamic sound: highs are crisp and well defined and lows are rich and full. It's a very "present", live sound.
Cue Accoustics Radio has big sound and features, Not your high-school clock radio.
This tabletop "clock radio" is a must-have for NPR junkies with small apartments! I listen to the radio all the time, and my stereo has good speakers but I can only set up two sets, which covers half the 600-square-foot apartment. I like to have NPR available in all rooms, so I typically use a clock radio as my alarm clock. After years of using a crappy-sounding old-school clock radio, I couldn't resist splurging on the Cue Aucoustics model r1 radio ("the Cue Radio"). It's a gorgeous, sleek little thing with whopping sound. It's small enough to fit on my tiny nightstand and looks nice enough to even be in the living room. I find myself listening to it even when I'm in other rooms, actually, because the sound is good enough and loud enough that if I'm in the middle of something I forget to switch to my real stereo. I used to hate the red glaring numbers showing the time on my old radio; the Cue has a soothing blue display that you can set to dim at night (one of my favorite features). The reception is better than any other radio I've used--I can get a bunch of stations I've never received well, and the signal status bar that comes up automatically while you're tuning is a nice confirmation of how well the station is
coming in. Setup is easy (the instruction booklet looks nice and was laid out such that I actually read it)--I could give this to my parents, for instance, and they would be able to readily suss out all the features. Best yet, it doubles as an iPod dock and also can be used as a receiver for my other mp3 players or my Pandora playlists
(the Cue speakers are way better than my laptop's), and its small size makes it easy to flip around, plug in an auxiliary cable, and enjoy the great sound--which you can control with the tiny remote that comes with it.
Over Priced, (What's this?) Sound quality is fair. Biggest disappointment is no battery backup. Overall, way too much money for what you get.
great sound, well made, (What's this?) This table radio is beautiful, has a really nice FM tuner, excellent sound. Its very well made. I really like that the clock light can not only dimmed at night, but turned off, since I use it next to my bed. The one downside is that setting the alarm is a few menu levels down. They should really optimize that on the next rev of the software.

There are many radios with iPod docks. Cue Acoustics has managed to design one that delivers superior sound and loudness. The Cue R1 is a clock radio that lets you choose wake up to iPod, iPhone, or AM/FM radio, or buzzer. Sure, the R1 has a great design too. The real value is the best possible sound performance. This radio is also designed and assembled in the USA. R1 offers intuitive and simple use with Simple User Controls. With just 3 knobs you can control every function of the Model r1. The Navigation dial (the larger one in the middle) allows you to scroll through menus, and push to select an item. The Mode knob is used to choose a sound source or enter the Setup mode to set various preferences. The Volume knob adjusts output level, and turns the r1 on or off when pressed. In iPod Mode, touch controls illuminate around the Navigation dial which allow for easy music navigation on your iPod or iPhone. The Model r1's contemporary, sophisticated design complements any decor and its compact size allows it to fit easily on almost any table, shelf, or desk. By adding the optional Cue Speaker Model s1, the r1 is transformed into a true stereo system. Since the s1 is a separate unit, you can set them apart and allow for the left and right channels to act independently. This provides a deep, immersive sound that is not possible with two speakers placed close together in a single unit. You achieve a much wider field of sonic dispersion in your room or home. The dock on the Model r1 charges and plays most generations of iPod and iPhone. It is fully integrated into the design of the r1 not a separate unit or an add-on like some other brands offer. When an iPod or iPhone is docked and the r1 is in iPod mode, four iPod-like touch controls illuminate around the Navigation dial: Menu, Fast Forward/Next, Play/Pause, and Rewind/Previous. You can choose to have the iPod menus, now-playing info etc.
